CWRU community grieves loss of alum killed in Afghanistan

The university community is grieving the loss of U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer Christopher R. Thibodeau, 28, who was killed when his Apache helicopter crashed May 26 in Patika province, Afghanistan, while serving his country. Thibodeau was a 2004 Case Western Reserve graduate, and his mother Doreen Thibodeau is an executive aid for the University Office of Student Affairs. Visitation will be Monday, June 6, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Brown–Forward Funeral Home at 17022 Chagrin Blvd. in Shaker Heights. A funeral service will take place Tuesday, June 7, at Amasa Stone Chapel at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow at Christ Presbyterian Church at 12419 Chillicothe Road in Chesterland.

Two memorial funds were created in Thibodeau’s honor. One will assist his wife, Leesandra Thibodeau, and their unborn baby. If you are interested in donating, you may send checks made out to the Christopher Thibodeau Memorial Fund to any KeyBank location in the Cleveland area. A second fund was created at Case Western Reserve University to honor Thibodeau and his mother for their service to the university community. You may donate to the CW2 Christopher R.
