The Plain Dealer: Ozan Akkus, professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering, received a five-year National Institutes of Health grant to work on creating artificial rotator cuffs. “In this type of research, normally [the NIH] gives you two or three years,” he said. “Five years means you have something going on here that’s robust and has high potential.”
