The 2014 Faculty Climate Survey is being released today. The survey, administered on behalf of the Office of the Provost by the Office of Institutional Research, was sent to full-time faculty who were hired before April 2013.
Survey items cover a range of topics, including satisfaction, stress, workload, leadership, support, resources, tenure criteria and retention. The survey also assesses faculty perceptions of the environment for inclusion and diversity.
The present report gives descriptive statistics by school and the university for each dimension covered.
“We are pleased to issue results of the climate survey, which has been administered every three years since 2004,” said Lynn Singer, deputy provost and vice president for academic affairs. “Reports yet to come from this survey will compare CWRU to a peer group of [Association of American Universities] schools, examine gender differences and, for the first time, compare current perceptions with the 2010 data to examine change over time.”
A component of the survey issued through the Office of Inclusion, Diversity and Equal Opportunity specifically addresses perceptions of comfort and peer interactions related to diversity.
“We’ll be analyzing this important data to discover how we might enhance cross-cultural awareness, dialogue, and understanding throughout our campus community,” said Marilyn Mobley, vice president of the Office of Inclusion, Diversity and Equal Opportunity. “The responses to this survey will assist us as we continue to implement the Diversity Strategic Action Plan.”
The survey results can be accessed at case.edu/provost/raa/raafacultysurveys.html for all faculty members with a CWRU ID.
