The Case Western Reserve Police Department will offer Level One self-defense classes to employees and students April 18 and 19. The Level One self-defense program has been specifically tailored to meet the needs of the student population and administrative staff, and was designed to address current issues regarding personal safety on campus. In these sessions, all attendees will learn simple procedures that will increase their awareness and safety while building the confidence essential to survival in any conflict involving aggression.
The sessions will cover the acronym RASE (Recognize, Act, Survive, Evaluate) and specific defense techniques. At the Level One program, attendees are welcome to either participate or observe.
Sessions will take place in the wrestling room at the Veale Convocation, Recreation and Athletic Center at the following times:
April 18
- 9 to 10:30 a.m.
- 10:30 a.m. to noon
- 1:30 to 3 p.m.
- 3 to 4 p.m.
April 19
- 9 to 10:30 a.m.
- 10:30 a.m. to noon
- 12:30 to 2 p.m.
Participants only attend one session. There are 25 spots for each time slot, and attendees are required to RSVP to Paul Owens at pjo2@case.edu with time slot selections.
Those participating are advised to wear gym clothes (shoes will not be allowed in the wrestling room).
