At this week’s Public Affairs Discussion Group, Distinguished University Professor Gary Previts will lead a conversation titled “The Profession of Accounting: Where It Came From, Where It Has Been, and Where It’s Going.”
Previts, co-author of A History of Accountancy in the United States, is also one of the profession’s leaders, having served as president of the American Accounting Association and a member of many oversight boards. Previts will discuss the past, present and future of a core institution of both capitalism and democracy.
The discussion will take place Friday, Feb. 21, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in Kelvin Smith Library’s Dampeer Room.
Since 1989, faculty, emeriti, students and staff have gathered on Fridays for a brown-bag lunch and to discuss topics in public affairs.
