When it comes to learning new things, what students learn from their professors in lecture or discussion classes is of immense importance. But it has lasting impact only if students combine their classroom experience with deep reading of the relevant literature, either before or after classes.
However, many teachers complain that students seem to be unwilling to put in the effort to read. At the next University Center for Innovation in Teaching and Education (UCITE) session, faculty members are invited to discuss why this apprehension occurs and ideal ways to encourage students to read.
The lunchtime discussion will take place Thursday, Feb. 20, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Herrick Room of the Allen Memorial Medical Library Building.
Pizza, sodas and water will be provided at this session. To help estimate the amount to order, RSVP to ucite@case.edu.
