The Swagelok Center for Surface Analysis of Materials at Case Western Reserve will welcome the Microscopy Society of Northeastern Ohio (MSNO) to campus for its upcoming meeting.
The meeting will be Wednesday, Feb. 26, in the Dittrick Medical History Center and Museum and will include dinner. Registration will begin at 4 p.m. and the first presentation will start at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will be from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.
Retired faculty member John Davidson will give the first presentation, “A Short History of Microscopy.” At 7:15 p.m., James M. Edmonson, the director of the Dittrick Medical History Center and Museum, will present “The Medical and Scientific Collections of the Dittrick Medical History Center: An Overview.”
The cost, including dinner, is $20 for MSNO members, $25 for non-members, $5 for student members and $10 for student non-members. This meeting is open to the public and all interested members of the campus community are invited to attend. Pre-registration is recommended and available at msneo.org, but registration at the door also is available.
The Swagelok Center for Surface Analysis of Materials is a multi-user analytical facility that provides instrumentation for microstructural characterization of materials as well as surface and near-surface chemical microanalysis. The center is available to all campus and non-CWRU academic users for solving a variety of research analysis problems at a federally approved use charge. Industrial clients also are welcome.
