The Department of Physics will host Michael Mann, director of the Earth System Science Center at Penn State University, to give two talks Jan.15-16.
Mann will give a public lecture, titled “The Hockey Stick and Climate Wars,” on Wednesday, Jan. 15, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Museum of Natural History.
Admission is free for members of the museum or with museum admission ($6 on Wednesday evenings).

On Thursday, Jan. 16, Mann will give a talk on campus, titled “The Physics of Climate Change” at 4:15 p.m. in the Rockefeller Building, Room 301. The event is open to the campus community.

Mann was a lead author on the “Observed Climate Variability and Change” chapter of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Scientific Assessment Report in 2001 and contributed to the award of the Nobel Peace Prize to the IPCC in 2007. He is the author of The Hockey Stick and Climate Wars: Dispatches from the Front Lines.
