Case Western Reserve University received $540,000 in grants from the federal government to look at potential effects of offshore wind on the electric grid in the Great Lakes region. Additionally, the project will “determine requirements on interconnection points, control systems, and the application of system reinforcements for different transmission system characteristics.”
The grant is one of 41 that received a total of $43 million over the next five years to spur innovation, lower costs and speed up the timeline for deploying offshore wind energy systems. For more information on all the grants, click here.
