The CWRU Student-Run Free Clinic will host a community shopping fundraising event Dec. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ten Thousand Villages (12425 Cedar Road, Cleveland Heights), a fair trade retailer offering handmade products from 36 developing countries and more than 130 artisan groups.
During those two hours, 15 percent of all sales will be donated to the clinic. In addition, attendees can meet clinic board members and volunteers and enjoy coffee and snacks while they shop.
The Student-Run Free Clinic is an inter-professional student organization founded and operated by students from the Case Western Reserve University medical and nursing schools. This year, social work students at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences joined the organization to provide more comprehensive services to the clinic’s more than 400 clients.
The organization operates a free, bimonthly, acute-care medical clinic that is staffed and operated entirely by CWRU graduate students and volunteer practitioners.
