The Office of Planning and Institutional Research released 13 new reports about the first-year experience at Case Western Reserve University. One report looks specifically at civic engagement. Results indicate that during their first year of college:
- 73 percent of 2012-13 students performed volunteer work
- 44 percent helped raise money for a cause or campaign
- 41 percent publicly communicated their opinion about a cause
In addition, most 2012-13 first-year students:
- were satisfied with opportunities for community service (72 percent)
- said it was very important/essential to help others who are in difficulty (81 percent)
- voted in the fall 2012 election (70 percent)
- were registered to vote as of last spring (85 percent)
