Power of Diversity series’ new viewpoint forum takes on affirmative action in higher education Oct. 15

The Office of Inclusion, Diversity and Equal Opportunity Power of Diversity Lecture Series introduces its new Viewpoint Forum. The first forum, featuring Avery Friedman and Peter Kirsanow, will be a discussion titled “The Future of Affirmative Action in Higher Education: Where Do We Go From Here?”

The event will take place Tuesday, Oct. 15, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Thwing Center’ s 1914 Lounge.

Viewpoint Forums will be campuswide events to explore and discuss divergent viewpoints on topics of critical concern.

Friedman is a nationally known civil rights lawyer and law professor. He has been a CNN legal analyst for the past 12 years. Friedman also has appeared as a civil and constitutional rights expert before the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives.

Kirsanow is a labor and employment lawyer and partner with Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff LLP in Cleveland. Appointed by President George W. Bush, Kirsanow is a former member of the National Labor Relations Board. He testifies before and advises federal lawmakers on employment law matters.
