The Department of Materials Science and Engineering will present the 37th Van Horn Distinguished Lecture featuring Eduard Arzt, scientific director and chairman of INM Leibniz Institute for New Materials in Saarbrueken, Germany.
Arzt will present his research titled, “Micropatterned Surfaces with Switchable Functionality: The ‘Gecko Effect’ and Its Applications” on Sept. 17, 18 and 19 at 4 p.m. each day in White Building 411.
Each day, Arzt will cover a different topic of his research.
- Sept. 17: “Micropatterned Surfaces with Switchable Functionality: The ‘Gecko Effect’ and Its Applications”
- Sept. 18: “Strength, Adhesion and Sound: Size Effects in Materials and Structures”
- Sept. 19: “New Functional Surfaces from Fundamentals to Applications: An Overview of Research at INM”
A reception will follow each talk.
