Cleveland proposes ‘Tanisha’s Law’ to send clinicians, not police, to some mental health emergencies
cleveland.com: Yaninna Sharpley-Travis and Robert Read, both juris doctor candidates at the School of Law, collaborated on drafting “Tanisha’s Law,” a proposed Cleveland ordinance to deploy unarmed behavioral health clinicians for certain emergency calls. Sharpley-Travis expressed gratitude, saying the city’s adoption of these measures would help “reduce and prevent the harm” faced by community members in crisis.
