Slow Food USA discussion

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures will host a talk by Bilal Sarwari, the interim executive director of Slow Foods USA, Thursday, Nov. 21, at 4 p.m. in Guilford House, 223.

Slow Food USA is a national organization working to achieve good, clean and fair food for all in the United States and is associated with the worldwide organization. There are hundreds of local chapters in cities around the U.S., including Cleveland, and CWRU has a recognized student organization at CWRU: Slow Food on Campus. The organization aims to reconnect people with food, and to inspire changes in food policy, production and markets. Slow Food USA also works to revive the table as a center of culture, community and pleasure.

During this event, Sarwari will discuss future plans for Slow Foods USA.

This visit will be held in conjunction with the Kelvin Smith Library fall semester exhibit that continues through December: “Slow Matters – Intersecting Food and Fields.”
