Wisdom of Practice Initiative lecture

The School of Medicine’s Center for Community Health Integration will host two Wisdom of Practice Initiative events Thursday, Nov. 14.

First, members of the campus community can meet with Kenneth Qiu, a national leader in direct primary care and the founder of EuDoc, a direct primary care practice in Richmond, Virginia. “Meet with a National Leader in Direct Primary Care” will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. in Health Education Campus, Room 243C.

Direct primary care is an innovative, relationship-based healthcare model in which physicians partner with patients to provide primary care services under a flat, periodic membership fee. This event is an informal, first-hand opportunity to learn how this model works for clinicians and patients.

The free event is followed by an optional dinner at 5 p.m.

After dinner, Australian family physician Johanna Lynch will give a keynote lecture titled “Become the Patient-Centered Doctor Yuu’ve Always Wanted To Be” at 6 p.m. in Health Education Campus, Room 251.

Lynch will tell the story of her innovative private practice and how it has allowed her to respond to the needs of her patients, her community, her family and herself. This inspirational real-world story includes the joys of being a healer and the struggles in offering relational, personalized care in a fragmented healthcare system.

Members of the community can attend this free event in person or via livestream.
