All undergraduate students are invited to a special event focused on the art of engaging in challenging discussions during a Hard Conversations event on the topic of “Mental Health of College Students” Wednesday, Nov. 13, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Tinkham Veale University Center, Ballroom A. The event features a panel discussion from experts in an informal “coffee shop” setting and is specifically tailored for students. Food and drinks provided!
During this conversation, panelists will discuss the mental health challenges and their implications for campus with an emphasis on being one’s own advocate and supporting members of our campus community living with mental health disabilities.
The panelists will be:
- Travis Apgar, vice president for student affairs in the Division of Student Affairs;
- Naomi Drakeford, director of clinical counseling services, equity and inclusion in University Health and Counseling Services in the Division of Student Affairs;
- David Hussey, associate professor and director of the Mandel Leadership Fellows Program and research director at the Begun Center for Violence Prevention Research and Education at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences; and
- Rita Obeid, senior instructor in the Department of Psychological Sciences at the College of Arts and Sciences.
