“From Understanding to Action: Shaping Food Policies to Realize Nutrition Equity”

Members of the Case Western Reserve University community are invited to the next Mary Ann Swetland Center for Environmental Health Seminar Series event titled “From Understanding to Action: Shaping Food Policies to Realize Nutrition Equity” Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Loiter Cafe & Marketplace (12550 Euclid Ave., East Cleveland).

This open forum discussion is designed to help participants:

  • Better understand the dynamic context (past, present and future) shaping the food policy landscape in Greater Cleveland;
  • Learn about strategies to build trust for policy actions aimed at promoting nutrition equity; and
  • Explore policy levers mobilized by people power to realize a food system that works for all.

The speakers will be Ismail Samad, co-founder of Loiter Cafe & Marketplace and a member of the Nourishing Power Network Advisory Council 1.0, and Shawn Brown, national director of organizing at The Humane League and chair of the Policy Action for Food Justice Working Group with the Nourishing Power Network.

This free event will be co-sponsored by Case Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Nourishing Power Network.
