Case Western Reserve University faculty and staff members are invited to join the Teaching and Learning Technologies team for “Empowerment through Course Accessibility” to learn about digital accessibility at CWRU. The sessions will be held Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Freedman Center for Digital Scholarship at Kelvin Smith Library.
There will be talks on accessible course design and AI course content accessibility, with breaks for networking and refreshments.
The schedule will be:
- 9 to 9:10 a.m.: Welcome remarks by speaker Megan Allen, assistant director of online learning
- 9:10 to 10 a.m.: “Accessible Course Design” by speaker Heather Bolden, lead instructional designer
This workshop will provide you with learn-today apply-tomorrow practical tips for working digital accessibility into your courses. In our time today, we’ll focus on:
Enhancing the accessibility of your digital content
Leveraging university-supported technology to support diverse learners
You’ll leave this session more confident that you’re contributing to a more inclusive educational landscape.
- 10 to 10:15 a.m.: Digital Accessibility Champion Badging Ceremony by speaker: La Tasha Simms, digital accessibility lead
- 10:15 to 10:30 a.m.: Coffee break provided by Bon Appétit Management Co.
- 10:30 to 11:20 a.m.: “AI Course Content Accessibility” by speakers Indra Wangsawiredja, instructional designer, and Razan Badran, teaching and learning designer
- 11:20 to 11:30 a.m.: Kelvin Smith Library tools and resources overview by facilitator Josie Cotton
- 11:30 a.m. to noon: Closing remarks and networking, led by Simms
