“Masculinity and its Discontents: The Effect of Masculine Identities on Service Culture in Elite Units”

The Baker-Nord Center for the Humanities, Department of History and the Inamori International Center for Ethics and Excellence will collaborate to host a roundtable panel with four “solider scholars”—military veterans who have earned PhDs. Titled “Masculinity and its Discontents: The Effect of Masculine Identities on Service Culture in Elite Units,” this discussion will be held Tuesday, Oct. 15, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Guilford Hall parlor.

The panelists will focus on the use (and misuse) of masculinity and gender in creating hierarchies and rankings in the armed forces.

There will be time for an audience Q&A session. Light refreshments will be provided.

Register to attend.
