Case Western Reserve University’s Journal of Economics is a student-led semesterly publication established in the fall of 2023 that provides students with a platform to share their projects worked on within the Journal, external working academic papers, and independent research. The Journal of Economics also provides students with networking opportunities and workshops focused on developing skills as they relate to economic research, such as how to properly conduct a literature review and use R to create effective data visualizations. Recognized as the 2024 Outstanding New Student Organization of the Year at the Student Leadership Awards Ceremony, the Journal is growing with respect to both participation and readership. Last semester, the Journal sent students to the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland’s Economic Scholars Program to share their research projects beyond the campus community.
Furthering the Journal’s goals of reaching a wider audience, it has officially received an International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) and a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) from the Library of Congress. The ISSN provides a unique identifier for the journal, making it easier for researchers and libraries to locate and reference it. Similarly, the DOI offers a persistent link to each article, ensuring they can be reliably accessed and cited. CWRU’s Journal of Economics obtaining an ISSN and DOI enhances its credibility, accessibility, and impact, marking a pivotal step in growing the journal’s academic reputation.
