Every year, ASTM International selects four graduate students from the United States and Canada to receive a $10,000 scholarship, recognizing their contributions to fields where technical standards are essential.
Vishnu Ramasamy, a PhD student in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, was selected as one of this year’s recipients. Ramasamy was honored for his involvement in using, teaching and contributing to the development of ASTM standards in mechanical testing and material characterization.
Ramasamy’s research projects using ASTM standards include graduate research work performed with John Lewandowski, in the Advanced Manufacturing and Mechanical Reliability Center at Case Western Reserve University.
