Join a student organization to serve the local community

The Health Education and Leadership in Physiology (H.E.L.P.) club at Case Western Reserve University works alongside the nonprofit Food Strong in Cleveland to provide support and health education to underserved populations.

On the first Saturday of each month, H.E.L.P. participates in the Food Strong learning garden clean up, which is a community garden that provides fresh produce and food education through cooking demonstrations in East Cleveland.

During the cleanups, volunteers weed, plant and harvest the fruits and vegetables produced in the garden. Students also participate in Care-A-Vans, which are held the second Saturday of each month from May to October at the Coit Road Farmers Market. During these events, they provide health education and handouts to the community to help promote healthy living and help people understand the importance of nutrition and physical activity.

Students who would like to join can email help.cwru@gmail.com.
