Cleveland Community Gathers for Day Party Cookout to Support Suicide Prevention

On Saturday, September 14, the Cleveland community is invited to come together for a Day Party Cookout with a purpose—raising funds for suicide prevention. The event, which runs from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Lounges Content Studio, aims to support LifeIsBetterWithYouHere.org during Suicide Prevention Week.

The Day Party Cookout is a collaborative effort between several local leaders and organizations dedicated to making a difference in the community. A.D. Jackson, owner of Lounges Content Studio, teams up with Laura Meyer, founder of ConfiDance Cleveland, Restoration Heights Church, and DJ Step One, who was recently named Cleveland Scene Magazine’s Best DJ of 2023.

For a ticket price of $15 online or $20 at the door, attendees will enjoy an afternoon of music, dancing, and great food in a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere. The event also includes one free glass of wine with each ticket, courtesy of the event organizers.

DJ Step One will be spinning tracks throughout the day, ensuring that the energy stays high as guests dance and socialize. The event will also feature a variety of vendors offering unique products and services, providing an opportunity to support local businesses.

In addition to the festivities, the event will include a short program featuring speakers who will share their personal experiences with mental health and the resources that have helped them navigate difficult times. This segment of the event aims to provide insight, support, and hope to those who may be struggling with their mental health.

A significant portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Life Is Better With You Here, an organization focused on providing resources and support for the Black community facing mental health challenges and suicidal ideation. Additional donations will be accepted at the event, offering further opportunities for attendees to contribute to this vital cause.

The Day Party Cookout promises not only a fun and memorable experience but also the chance to make a meaningful impact in the fight against suicide. By attending, participants will be directly supporting efforts to provide much-needed resources and hope to those in need.

“We’re thrilled to see the community come together for such an important cause,” said Laura Meyer. “This event is not just about having a good time, but about making a real difference in people’s lives.”

Don’t miss the chance to relax, enjoy great company, and contribute to a life-saving cause. The event will be held at 1547 St. Clair Ave NE, with parking available at the venue. Tickets are available online or at the door, and your participation will help bring hope to those who need it most.
