ideastream: Jonathan Ernest, assistant professor of economics at Weatherhead School of Management, talked about a regional sports network filing for bankruptcy. “Now what’s really happening is [that] teams end up signing multi-year deals for broadcast rights. And sometimes those deals have been very profitable over the years,” said Ernest, who teaches a course on the economics of sports. “[But] more recently, they’ve found that as people are switching their habits [to streaming], they haven’t necessarily been as profitable.”
