The Department of Religious Studies will host a lecture by Alanna Cooper, the Abba Hillel Silver Chair of Jewish Studies, Wednesday, May 1, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Dively Building, Room 213
In this lecture tilted “Making Sense of Trauma: Israel’s Black Sabbath and its Aftermath,” Cooper will analyze the cultural work born out of the trauma experienced by Israel’s citizens on Oct. 7.
Research explores the existential patterns Israelis seek to make sense of their wounds, as well as the ways in which they assemble a set of hopes and fears for how they might be healed.
This event is free and open to all members of the CWRU community.
Refreshments will be provided following the lecture.
