Case Western Reserve University held the third annual Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition Feb. 16. Developed by the University of Queensland and now held at over 900 institutions across more than 85 countries, 3MT celebrates the exciting research conducted by grad students around the world. This competition cultivates students’ academic, presentation and research communication skills.
CWRU’s 2024 winners are:
- Science & Human Rights Coalition 1st Place Prize ($2,000): Eileen Petros, MD/PhD student in biomedical engineering for “Does feeling the prosthetic foot affect the mental workload of walking?” with research advisor Hamid Charkhkar
Research Advisor: Hamid Charkhkar - Veale Institute for Entrepreneurship 2nd Place Prize ($1,500): Bijoya Basu, PhD student in genetics and genome sciences for “Targeting a Novel Hormone to Treat Trauma” with research advisor Atul Chopra
- Science & Human Rights Coalition 3rd Place Prize ($1,000): Suzhou Li, PhD student in biomedical engineering for “Electrically Restored Foot Sensation Improves Stumble Recovery” with research advisor Hamid Charkhkar
- Veale Institute for Entrepreneurship Postdoc Prize ($500): Vidya Gopakumar, a postdoctoral scholar in pharmacology for “Next-Gen wound care: Advanced Amniotic Grafts” with research advisor Johannes von Lintig
- Case-Coulter Translational Research Partnership People’s Choice Awards ($350):
