Case Comprehensive Cancer Center nets $5 million for rare initiative
Crain’s Cleveland Business: Gary Schwartz, director of the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center, discussed a new $5 million gift from the Jed Ian Taxel Foundation to launch a rare cancer initiative at the center. “In general, rare cancers represent an unmet medical need in the United States,” Schwartz said. “When you look at rare cancers across the country, once you get beyond lung, breast, colon and probably prostate, the rest of the cancers really are rare, which means you’re talking about probably a quarter of all cancers in the United States.”
