The Provost Scholars Program at Case Western Reserve University, The Concerned Pastors of East Cleveland, and the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center have collaborated to create the Health and Wellness Series: Staying Healthy and Living Longer.
The mission of this program is to improve health promotion and disease prevention, health literacy, access to healthcare and quality of life, and eliminate health disparities. To accomplish this, the organizations aim to create sustained collaboration and partnerships with East Cleveland families and the community, stakeholders, researchers and healthcare experts at the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Monthly sessions will be held at New Life Cathedral for members of the community to come together to discuss significant topics of concern to individuals in the community. The first session—held Thursday, Oct. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m.—will focus on breast, prostate and esophageal cancers, smoking cessation, and related issues.
Members of the university and local communities are invited to attend for food, conversation, collaboration and a long-term relationship with health promotion and disease prevention experts.
