NBC NewsGrace McComsey, vice dean for clinical and translational research at the School of Medicine, described the ways COVID-19 has gotten milder and shifted over time to mostly affect the upper respiratory tract. She noted some patients have reported “a burning sensation like they never had, even with strep in the past. Then, as soon as the congestion happens, it seems like the throat gets better.”
