The Prevention Research Center for Healthy Neighborhoods (PRCHN) will hold a discussion on the Steps to Reach Individual Diet and Exercise Solutions (STRIDES) program, led by Eileen Seeholzer, assistant professor at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
The STRIDES program is a practical adaptation of the Diabetes Prevention Program that uses simple language and tailors recommendations to patient preferences. This presentation will discuss the design of STRIDES and report on a pilot study that tested the effectiveness of STRIDES in an urban primary care practice in a county healthcare system.
Seeholzer is the director of the Weight Management Center, which she started in 2003 at MetroHealth Medical Center. She is also the director of the Adult Weight Management and Healthy Lifestyles initiative, a 10-year project funded by the St. Luke’s Foundation.
The lecture will take place April 10 from noon to 1 p.m. on the ground floor of the BioEnterprise Building. A light lunch will be provided.
