CWRU law school program will explore legalities of collecting, monetizing athlete data
Crain’s Cleveland Business: Craig Nard, the Galen J. Roush Professor of Law and director of the Spangenberg Center for Law, discussed the law school’s new partnership with Sports Data Labs to create the first-ever lab focused on the legalities of collection, usage and ownership of athlete data. “From the 30,000-foot level, this is about the legalities related to the collection, processing and monetization of personal data gathered from high-end athletes,” Nard said. “And for the students on our end, this is a tremendous opportunity to create a leadership position around the legal landscape of the personal data ecosystem.”
