Postdocs and graduate students are invited to join the University Center for Innovation in Teaching and Education (UCITE) for a Future Faculty Fridays session Sept. 8 from 11:40 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Allen Memorial Medical Library’s Herrick Room.
This interactive session will introduce common terminology used in higher education, including flipped classroom, inquiry-based learning, inclusive teaching, active learning, metacognition, formative and summative assessment, student evaluations of teaching, and more.
The glossary of “buzzwords” shared will help future instructors develop their teaching practices as well as their teaching statements (commonly required in academic job applications).
Those who would like a specific term discussed can email jennifer.hadingham@case.edu.
Attendees also will have a chance to complete a survey about upcoming topics for Future Faculty Fridays, which will take the format of a journal club.
