Jeremy Bendik-Keymer, professor in the Department of Philosophy, was named a visiting professor to be hosted by the Institute of Philosophy at the University of Wroclaw as part of its excellence in research initiative.
Bendik-Keymer will work primarily with doctoral students in a week-long intensive seminar called “The Public Philosophy Movement in the Anglophone World.”
As part of his visit, he will give a public fireside talk titled “Six Practices to Make Philosophy Part of Your Home” at a house of culture open to the general public. He also will conduct a dialogue with Urszula Lisowska of the Institute of Philosophy on the theme “Public Philosophy and the Worldly Community” at the Spanish bookstore of Wroclaw, a local literary hub.
To conclude his visit, Bendik-Keymer will give one of the keynote addresses at the multi-university European research council conference on the Anthropocene and boundary crossing among disciplines. His talk will be titled “The Inner Life of the Planet: Earth System Science in Moral Time.”
