| CWRU’s Expanding Horizons Initiative supports early-stage research, student engagement Crain’s Cleveland Business (subscription required): The Expanding Horizons (EH) Initiative, created by Joy K. Ward, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, was featured as an innovative program that emphasizes interdisciplinary work, student research and direct connections to funders. The program serves as a seed fund for faculty research, helping to get ideas off the ground and make them stronger applicants for outside funding. “It really opens a student’s world,” Ward said. The story featured EH initiatives directed by Mark Willis, professor of biology; Maggie Popkin, the Robson Junior Professor and associate professor of art history; and Justine Howe, associate professor of religious studies and the Armington Professor. |
