Larry Householder’s decision to testify in his own defense backfired, experts say
cleveland.com: Michael Benza, senior instructor in law, and Jonathan Entin, the David L. Brennan Professor Emeritus of Law and adjunct professor of political science, discussed the guilty verdict in the trial of Larry Householder, the former speaker of the Ohio House of Representative charged for his role in a $60 million bribery scheme. “Some of the things he said were so clearly false, that, you know, as a trial lawyer, you start salivating (because) it’s going to be so easy,” Benza said. “And I don’t even know if (prosecutors) were prepared for it to be that easy, to show that what he was saying was just wrong and just a lie.”
