Pip Petersen, a PhD candidate in the Case Western Reserve University Department of Physics, was awarded a PATHS STEAM Education Grant from LGBT Tech, which is awarded to LGBTQ+ individuals working to increase visibility and awareness in STEAM.
As part of the inaugural program, Petersen was awarded $5,000 in financial support towards his PhD in theoretical physics and will be part of the mentoring program for LGBTQ+ individuals. He was awarded the grant based on his outreach work, and for recently winning an international hackathon aimed at increasing HIV awareness and resources for Black and Latinx queer men in the United States.
