What was John Wayne Gacy’s murder trial like?
A&E: Kevin McMunigal, professor of law, discussed the trial of notorious serial killer John Wayne Gacy in 1980. McMunigal noted that juries do take the prospect of release into consideration. “(Juries) are very reluctant to accept an insanity defense—partly, I think, because they’re afraid of people, if they’ve done something like Gacy,” he said. “They just want to make sure he’s not out.”
