Jonathan Adler, the Johan Verheij Memorial Professor of Law and director of the Center for Business Law and Regulation, recently gave several presentations and had several of his works published.
On Dec. 13, Adler debated Professor Sam Bagenstos of the University of Michigan in a Federalist Society Teleforum on “Pending Challenges to Obamacare.”
He later served as the facilitator for the “Summit on Federalism and the Future of Fossil Fuels,” convened by Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt and sponsored by the Attorneys General Education Program of the George Mason University Law and Economics Center, in Oklahoma City, Okla.
On Jan. 24, Adler spoke on “Reining in Federal Regulation,” before the student chapter of the Federalist Society at the Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, Calif., and lectured on “A Conservative’s Approach to Climate Change” at the UCLA School of Law in Los Angeles.
On Feb. 13, Adler lectured on “Making Sense of the Supreme Court” at the City Club as part of the law school’s “Case Downtown” lecture series.
He also had multiple articles published, including “City of Arlington v. FCC: Questioning an Agency’s Authority to Determine Its Own Jurisdiction,” in Perspectives from FSF Scholars; “Taxation without Representation: The Illegal IRS Rule to Expand Tax Credits under the PPACA (with Michael Cannon)” in Health Matrix: Journal of Law-Medicine; and “Placing ‘Reins’ on Regulations: Assessing the Proposed REINS Act,” in the NYU Journal of Legislation & Public Policy.
