The Office of Interprofessional and Interdisciplinary Education and Research will host a discussion titled “Climate Change and Health: Educating Future Health Leaders” Thursday, Dec. 1, from noon to 1 p.m. in Samson Pavilion, Room 199A/B.
The impacts of climate change—including increased frequency and intensity of extreme weather events, changing geographies of vector-borne illnesses, increasing allergens and air pollution, and changes to food and water quality and supply—will present physical threats to health care delivery facilities and create health burdens for affected populations. This dialogue will cover collaborative efforts under the Case Western Reserve University umbrella to educate, mitigate and advocate on the impacts of climate change on health and on healthcare delivery, and how the education of our future health leaders on this topic can be accomplished.
