During the month of March, the Case Western Reserve University community is invited to join in Women’s History Month activities to acknowledge and honor women’s accomplishments. This year, the Flora Stone Mather Center for Women will present a talk by Lynn Povich, author of The Good Girls Revolt.
Published in 2012, the book documents Povich’s role in joining 45 women to sue Newsweek magazine in 1970 for sex discrimination. They were the first women in the media to file a complaint and filed the first-ever female class action lawsuit. Along with talking about the lawsuit, she will speak about the women working at Newsweek today, the kinds of obstacles today’s women face and the confusion about why women are not getting ahead.
Povich will speak Monday, March 18, at 3:30 p.m. in the Thwing Center 1914 Lounge. Those interested in attending should pre-register online.
