Bethany Kersten, a PhD in chemical engineering student at Case Western Reserve University, earned second place in the open material recovery category of the Innovations in Nuclear Technology R&D Awards—sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Fuel and Supply Chain.
Kersten’s award-winning research paper, “The Future of Nuclear Energy: Electrochemical Reprocessing of Fuel Takes Center Stage,” was published in the Electrochemical Society Interface in September 2021.
