Michael W. Clune, Samuel B. and Virginia C. Knight professor of humanities, reflected on his experience with dream incubation in an article published by Harper’s Magazine. In “Night Shifts,” Clune recalls his participation in an experiment at MIT Media Lab, in which he used a novel software that allowed researchers to influence his dreams. The dream-incubation device, named the “Dormio,” allows users to choose the subject of their dreams through guided messaging during the first stages of sleep.
