Alumni House residents take first place in CWRU Unplugged 2021

The Office of Energy and Sustainability congratulates Alumni House for reducing their energy use by 4.56% and winning first place in the CWRU Unplugged 2021 competition. As a reward for reducing their energy consumption the most, every resident in the building received cookies from Insomnia. In second place is Phi Delta Theta, closely followed by Hitchcock.

CWRU Unplugged is an annual energy and sustainability competition hosted by the Sustainability Ambassadors in the Office of Energy and Sustainability. Students living in CWRU residence halls and Greek houses try to reduce their energy usage over the course of the two-week competition. Additional points were given to halls whose residents signed a sustainability pledge for reducing waste or attended events hosted by the Office of Energy and Sustainability. Events included a booth at the Residence Hall Association’s Fall Fest, the Office of Energy and Sustainability’s Annual Big Green Event, and an off-the-grid s’mores night.

All sustainability pledge participants were entered into a raffle for the chance to win a gift set full of sustainable-use items. Five winners were selected and will receive their prizes before the semester ends.
