Pediatrics’ David J. Birnkrant, Jane B. Black write about the need to heed expert consensus during COVID-19 pandemic

David J. Birnkrant, professor of pediatrics, and Jane B. Black, clinical assistant professor of pediatrics, penned an op-ed for cleveland.com calling for the public to rely on expert consensus rather than personal opinion when considering COVID-19 information.

In their piece, titled “Expert consensus, not personal opinion, should guide COVID-19 information,” the authors explored how scientific information has come to be disseminated via the internet in social media.

“But in COVID times, accurate public perceptions, guided by true expert opinion, are literally a matter of life and death,” they wrote.
