Graduate students, postdoctoral scholars/fellows and research scholars considering careers as faculty members or teaching at the university level are invited to sign up for UNIV401, Advanced Professional Development for University Teaching.
UNIV401 is a zero-credit course aimed at introducing participants to the practice of teaching in higher education. Staff whose job may include teaching also are welcome to attend.
In this seminar course, participants will develop a course syllabus and lesson plan while learning and practicing effective teaching strategies useful across major disciplines.
They will receive a certificate upon completion, there is no charge for this seminar, and a free textbook is provided.
This 14-session seminar will take place on Tuesdays from Aug. 24 through Nov. 30.
Two sections are available during the fall semester (both EST):
- 10 to 11:15 a.m. (online); and
- 1 to 2:15 p.m. (in-person).
Enrollment is limited to 15 students per section.
Graduate students can register via the Student Information System (SIS).
