With July comes long days, summer fun, and rising temperatures. One way to stay cool is to indulge in ice cream and, here in Cleveland, there are plenty of places to grab a sweet treat. On Wednesdays in July, we’ll take you on a tour of some local favorites.
The last stop on our tour is a step back in time to Sweet Moses Soda Fountain and Treat Shop. Opened about 10 years ago in the Gordon Square Arts District, the shop takes inspiration from 1940s-era soda fountains both in its decor and its approach to food preparation.
Served up in scoops, cones or sundaes, Sweet Moses’ homemade ice cream flavors include classics and favorites such as Belgian chocolate, mint chocolate chip and butter pecan. Whether you want to indulge in one of Sweet Moses’ signature sundaes—such as the Shoreway Sundae—or want to build your own, there are plenty of options to treat your tastebuds.
Want to try out something different? The menu also features phosphates, soda fountain drinks, malts, milkshakes and more. There’s even a candy case with sweets including barks, brownie pops and other treats made with premium Belgian chocolate. Plus, don’t miss the root beer and popcorn.
Ready to try it out? Sweet Moses is about a 16-minute drive from campus. Or, if you prefer public transportation, take the RTA’s Red Line from campus to Tower City. Head to Public Square, where you can catch the 71 bus route and take it to West 65th Street and Detroit Avenue. The full one-way trip via the RTA is about 45 minutes.
