The Case Western Reserve University Department of English will host a poetry reading featuring George Bilgere and Brad Ricca on Thursday, Nov. 29. The event will take place in the Guilford Parlor at 5 p.m.
Bilgere has published five collections of poetry. His work has won numerous awards, including the University of Akron’s Poetry Award, the May Swenson Award and the Autumn House Poetry Series. Bilgere has received grants and awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Fulbright Foundation, the Witter Bynner Foundation, the Ohio Arts Council, the Society of Midland Authors, the Ohioana Award and the Cleveland Arts Prize. His work is featured frequently on Garrison Keillor’s NPR radio program “The Writer’s Almanac,” and, last December, Bilgere was a featured guest on “A Prairie Home Companion.”
Ricca, a SAGES Fellow at Case Western Reserve, recently published his first book of poetry, American Mastodon. The book won the St. Lawrence Book Award, was featured on “The Writer’s Almanac” with Garrison Keillor and was named a “Best of 2012” by Cleveland Magazine. His book Super Boys: The Amazing Adventures of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster is forthcoming in 2013.
