Retired staff member Don Chenelle passed away Jan. 24. Chenelle worked at CWRU from 1973 to 2009, with 23 of those years as the faculty advisor to Phi Delta Theta (1981-2009).
He was passionate about supporting students and went to great lengths to support them. He was known for his open-door policy and was a valued advisor to many students.
Chenelle dedicated his career and free time to empowering young people to pursue their education, passions, athletics and leadership. He received the President’s Award for Distinguished Service in 2009 and was recognized by the Office of Multicultural Affairs at the Unity Banquet for his dedication to underrepresented students.
In the year of his retirement, a scholarship fund was established in his name: the Donald W. Chenelle Scholarship Fund. Give to the fund.
Chenelle’s three sons, Mike, Matt and Joe, graduated from CWRU and were members of Phi Delta Theta during their time as students.
