Matthew Willard, an associate professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Case School of Engineering, has been selected to take part in the 13th Japanese-American Kavli Frontiers of Science symposium.
The symposium will be held Nov. 30–Dec. 2 at the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Center in Irvine, California., and is jointly sponsored by the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.
The meeting is designed to facilitate greater interaction between leading young scientists from Japan and the United States. Cutting-edge research topics that will be covered in this symposium include: the aftermath of disasters, artificial cells and tissues by chemistry, potential replacement of rare earths, and personalized medicine, among others.
